Cushman Motor Scooters

Cushman motor scooters can safely be called the beginning of the modern scooter and even parking patrol auto rickshaws today. A 43cc scooter from Cushman is usually a mini three-wheel scooter which runs on gas. They have produced a variety of shapes and designs in their motor scooters over the years and their refined design is still in use today. It is known that the massively popular company, Vespa, also built their line of cheap and affordable motor scooters based on the Cushman motor scooter design.

Cushman motor scooters first began production in 1903 in Lincoln, Nebraska by the brother Clinton and Everett Cushman. They manufactured and presented their first motor scooter in 1936 and these were used widely by the US military in the Second World War as a great alternative to cars both before and after World War II.

Right after the war, they introduced a fifty series of scooters called the Family Scooter which was a four horse power scooter with an automatic clutch and was pretty simple to operate.  They have grown largely since their humble beginnings and with their simple design their motor scooters are still up for sale under the parent company, Textron.

Broadly speaking, there are three types of Cushman motor scooters available in the market today. These are the Iron Eagle Scooter, the Step Thru Scooters and others types of scooters under the Cushman design such as the Wards Riverside Moped and Triumph Tina. The Eagle scooters were first sold in the market in 1949 and resembled mini motorcycles.

Types of motor scooters under this category include the Cushman Eagle, Cushman Super Eagle, Cushman 765 Eagle and the 765 Barrel Spring Eagle. Most of these models come with chrome headlights, air filter covers and shrouds. Even though these petrol scooters and others by Cushman running on gas are affordable, they are not seen as the most durable and convenient. This is one of the reasons buyers of the Cushman motor scooters are usually collectors.
